Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I need?
This is entirely dependent on your needs, the goal and you. This can be best discussed with your clinician during the initial appointment.
Can I get a Medicare rebate?
A mental health treatment plan lets you claim up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions with a mental health professional each calendar year. To start with, your doctor or psychiatrist will refer you for up to 6 sessions at a time. If you need more, they can refer you for further sessions. Our psychology sessions have a rebate of $93.85 per session.
Please note: you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health fund rebate for the same session.

You can refer yourself or someone else, e.g. a doctor, nurse, support person, social worker, etc. can do it for you. If you see your doctor first, you may be eligible for a mental health care plan where you will be able to receive a Medicare rebate.
